What are Workplace & Employee Programmes?

At Elmwood Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy, the people who come for help and support represent all walks of life, from individuals to couples, families, students, business executives, professionals and employees.
Counselling and Psychotherapy are employed by many organisations as a therapeutic support, and as a process that is believed to be of benefit to the health and wellbeing of people in the working environment. Employer workplace performance can be affected by issues arising both from within and from outside the workplace.
Counselling services at Elmwood Centre are confidential and discrete. Our therapists support employers, employees and their families to express their concerns in confidence and to receive the help they need in a convenient, off site and neutral location to further protect confidentiality.
The most common reason people develop problems in the workplace is universally recognised to be stress. This can lead to tension and distress at home and in the workplace, where personal problems often end up unconsciously affecting performance. Emotional distress can affect your physical health and ability to perform effectively. Recent studies show that counselling can reduce levels of stress in the workplace by more than 50%. These studies have shown that the benefits of workplace counselling are:

  • Work related symptoms (i.e. stress, anxiety) return to normal levels for more than half of all clients
  • Illness and related absences from the workplace fall significantly
  • Job motivation, commitment and satisfaction improve
  • Improvement in morale and personal wellbeing
  • Better ability to identify and resolve problems

Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you to manage your stress, resulting in more positive and better communication skills in order to improve relations with co-workers. Our team at Elmwood Centre are very experienced in this field, and work extensively with business and corporate organisations providing committed and effective counselling so that an early resolution can facilitate a return to productivity and health.
