Student Counselling

What is Student Counselling & College Services?

At Elmwood Centre we offer counselling and psychotherapy to students from colleges and universities. We recognise that whilst the college experience can be exciting and rewarding, it can also be challenging for many students. The transition from school to college can be difficult to negotiate and sometimes personal or family problems can interfere with a student’s academic and social life. We help and support students to manage difficulties so that college life can be enjoyed and participated in more fully. We have a lot of experience working with and providing support services to students who are struggling with issues such as;

  • Stress at exam time
  • Difficulties with study
  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
  • Social difficulties
  • Cultural differences
  • Adjusting to a co-educational environment
  • Relationship issues
  • Gender and Identity issues
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Eating disorders
  • Addiction
  • Financial worries
  • Family concerns
